Roma Women Empowerment Regional Project
 
 
 
The Roma Women Empowerment Project is focused on strengthening the position of Roma women in society.  This 3 year initiative is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  CARE is working with 4 Roma Women CSOs; including Better Future in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Roma Heart in the  Jagodnjak-Osijek Region, Croatia , Bibija - Roma Women's Center, Belgrade, Serbia and Center for Roma Initiatives from Niksic, Montenegro. 
The project will focus on strengthening partners capacity around advocacy and implementing initiatives around gender equality and the needs of women within the Roma community.
Through a  grants scheme the partners are implementing projects in the following area’s; education and training , mainly focused on women, on reproductive health, influence of family violence to mental health of women as well as health insurance for Roma people .  In May a visit to the European Roma Rights Center in Budapest is planned.
