A youth forum took place as part of the Global Symposium, with a youth from Banja Luka, Dajan Javorac as a participant. As a youth activist he spoke about his own personal experiences and his work with other young men to end all levels of violence in his community. CARE International presented on a panel highlighting its experiences and lessons learned from the Western Balkan Gender Based Violence Prevention Young Men Initiative, a 3 year program supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Global Symposium ended with a Rio Call for Action to governments and NGOs to work together to engage with men and boys in the promotion of gender equality and the ending of violence against women by addressing social norms around masculinity that are both harmful to men and women.
