Belgrade Study Tour, July 2009

A three-day seminar on "Basics of the Forum Theater-Introduction to Rehearsing Life" was held in Belgrade for 17 Roma women representing 10 different Roma Women NGOs from four project-target countries. The training was held by two known experts on the topic, Ms. Vera Erac and Ms. Mirela Pavlović from Belgrade. The participants, after learning about the history, development and application of the techiques, actively took part in numerous games and exercises that resulted in 4 different scene presentations, as a key step to developing a forum theatre play/performance. CARE's Serbia project partners from the Vojvodina Roma Center for Democracy, already working on the forum theatre play, have contributed to the training dynamics and quality. The seminar was followed by the presentation of CARE's partner Ms. Rozalija Ilić from the Roma Information Center from Kragujevac on theatre performance as an innovative method applied in education and awareness raising of high-schools students on dangers of trafficking in human beings. Another CARE partner, Mr. Vojislav Arsić from Centre E8 from Belgrade, presented the forum theatre techiques applied in the work with Roma population on sexual and reproductive health issues.
